Moving Forward: Establishing a Medicare Business Line

May 24, 2021

By Hilary Haycock, President

I am thrilled to announce that Aurrera Health Group is officially launching a Medicare business line. Aurrera Health Group may be known best for our work on the Medicaid program—including work on behalf of beneficiaries dually eligible for both Medicaid and Medicare. Adding Meg Koepke and Melissa Cohen to our team as Vice Presidents for Medicare is a natural progression of our commitment to affordable, accessible, high quality health coverage. We are excited and optimistic about this expansion of our firm’s services by adding Medicare-focused strategy, operations, and policy counsel to our portfolio.

Medicare is destination health care for all of us—if we’re fortunate enough to live into our golden years. Having worked in Medicare, health policy, and care transformation for most of their careers, Meg and Melissa recognize that Medicare is also a ripe place for continuous improvement – both related to delivery and coordination of care and development and testing of new payment models for the program. They are dedicated to Aurrera Health Group’s mission of promoting access to high quality, affordable health care and our vision of supporting government agencies, health care delivery systems, and payers in achieving their goals. We are excited to expand our expertise and contributions across all government programs to new and existing clients.

Together, Meg and Melissa have vast experience developing and delivering value-based care and payment transformation. They have served in executive leadership positions within the federal Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, as well as within provider and health plan organizations.Medicare Meet-Up

Starting May 27th, you can hear from Meg and Melissa directly on their weekly Medicare Meet-Up podcast —conversations with national experts about the waterfront of opportunity in Medicare from improving virtual care to building innovative solutions that stick to making sure underrepresented populations benefit from lessons learned in Medicare cost and care transformation. Subscribe on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts and stay tuned to our website and social media channels to join us for upcoming episodes.

Our History with the Medicare Program

Engagements designed to serve the unique needs of the dual eligible population have long been part of our work at Aurrera Health Group, including our work on California’s Coordinated Care Initiative, The SCAN Foundation’s MyCareMyChoice beneficiary tools, and now California’s efforts to expand access to integrated care. Mary Russell recently joined the Aurrera Health team, bringing years of experience supporting Medicaid and Medicare health plans with new product implementation and overall program operations for complex populations, particularly Medicaid plans entering the Medicare space.

Offering a full suite of Medicare services builds upon this early experience. We look forward to the new projects and learning that will come from this endeavor.
