Malena Savell, MA, contributes to mental and behavioral health policy initiatives at Aurrera Health, including monitoring and evaluation for opioid response programs. She supports research, program implementation, and cross-sector collaboration to improve mental and behavioral health systems.
Before joining Aurrera Health, Malena was a research scientist at the California Department of Public Health, where she monitored health programs including Title V-funded initiatives supporting pregnant persons, families, and children with special health care needs. Her prior experience includes conducting behavioral health research at the UC Davis MIND Institute and the University at Buffalo Child Health and Behavior Lab, where she worked directly with children and families.
In her free time, Malena volunteers to support first-response efforts for individuals and families in crisis and enjoys reading, cooking, exploring nature, and traveling with her children and partner.
