Abena Asare, MPH, supports behavioral health system improvement initiatives at Aurrera Health, including work to support the oversight and implementation of opioid settlement funds. Her work includes strategy development, policy analysis, and technical support to strengthen service delivery and improve outcomes.
Before joining Aurrera Health, Abena worked at another health care consulting organization, focused on strategy and operations. She previously supported community-based public health initiatives at[LB2] the Prevention Institute, with an emphasis on mental health and intimate partner violence. As a NASHP Emerging Leaders of Color Fellow, she contributed to maternal health policy development in Virginia. Abena is also trained as a birth doula.
In her free time, Abena enjoys traveling, supporting women’s sports, and experimenting with new recipes.
